Seaview Inn - Sherryl Woods

Title: Seaview Inn
Author: Sherryl Woods
Published: 2008
Publisher: Mira

Genre: Romance

This is the first book that I have read of Sherryl Woods and I really enjoyed it. Seaview Inn is a story about family relationships, forgiveness, moving forward after tragedy, and romance.

Hannah is a breast cancer survivor. She's tough but when things don't go as planned - her grandmother won't sell the inn and move into a retirement home, her daughter comes home from college pregnant, and her old flame suddenly shows up - she has to find a way to deal with it all and keep her sanity.

Luke has some issues as well - while he was serving in Iraq, his wife leaves him for his best friend and business partner, he is injured in the war, and his kids are mad at him for leaving. He comes to Seaview Key, where he grew up, because it seemed like the right place to take inventory of his life and find out how to get his life back.

"Sometimes, though, the unexpected is just what it takes to start over...and to heal the heart."

One of my favorite characters in this book is the grandmother - feisty, tell it like it is, and determined to show Hannah that home is where you least expect it.

Sherryl Woods' characters are believable, flawed, and well-rounded. Even though the book moves at a moderate pace, it has enough subplots that keeps the reader interested. All in all a really good read.
